About Face Theatre 07/08 Season

About Face is an award-winning theatre company, dedicated to the creation of performances that examine and participate in the development of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities. We have a strong commitment to artistic innovation and excellence within the emergent modes of queer theatre. About Face is Chicago's award-winning LGBTQ theatre company, and one of only a handful of such companies in the nation. In addition to the main stage series, the New Works Festival offers the opportunity for readings, rough staging and audience response.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURES:
No unsolicited scripts. Send query letter with synopsis, cast list, first ten pages, resume, SASE and relevant production history. Only electronic submissions accepted.

TYPES OF MATERIAL:
One acts, full lengths, musicals and performance art. Queer scripts preferred with particular interest in lesbian plays. Looking for material that challenges self-conceptions, moral expectations and ideas about gender and sexuality in historical or contemporary contexts. Interested in scripts that are imaginative and of literary caliber with strong dramatic action, theatricality and dynamic, unpredictable characters that break traditional ideas about dramatic form, structure and presentation. Will consider second productions. Adaptations accepted. Agent submissions are encouraged.
